Phoenix, Arizona 2015
Last weekend I flew down to Phoenix for the first time! My friend’s invited me to join them for a weekend getaway while they attended a convention downtown. It was hot, sunny and only a 2.5 hr flight away so … I figured, why not? It’s my birthday month after all, might as well kick it off somewhere I’ve never been to yet. Phoenix welcomed me with a very warm embrace of 40*+ every day while I was there + lots of sunshine (Yay to Vitamin D!). This travel Diary post of Phoenix contains the highlights of my trip ,where I ate along with what I did! (What I did… like SkyDivining ~ Jumping off a plane at 12,000 ft!)
First stop for food: $5 Friday Don’s at *insert name of restaurant).
I got their Teriyaki Chicken + veggie don. The taste was alright considering the amount I spent on it, portions were generous and they had awesome service! If I was around that area again in Phoenix, I’d def come by again for a quick bite.
Nom nom nom to yummy bagels. This place was conveniently in our hotel lobby @ the Hyatt Downtown and they have some really good bagels to offer! I especially LOVED their PB Strawberry Jelly in a warm cinnamon sugar bagel. Prices were fair, service was fast and their turkey breakfast bagel was really good too!
stands for: Vitamins, Essential Minerals, Mangosteen and Aloe Vera. Each drink contains this formula, making this drink a perfect healthy compliment to anyone who's seeking energy and good health!
Bode-E: Vanilla Protein Shake - I never liked drinking protein shakes, but this one.. this one was delicious! With 25g of protein in each can, it's a wicked kick to a pre and post workout!
Remix: A mix between their Renew drink + Verve energy drink. Super yummy, great cold!I like this the best because its carbonated.
Partea: Organic green tea + verve formula made this incredibly yummy, it's like a healthier version of ice tea.
If anyone would like some samples or to try these out email me here!
I arrived a day after my friends so for the first day they were raving about this delicious sushi restaurant they went to and made it a point to have us all go back again before we left, so we did.. and they were right on with this place. It’s not the fanciest sushi restaurant, however the chef and service was absolutely wonderful. We ordered a variety of items to taste the menu, including a nigiri set (I tried my first Uni! Which unfortunately, I didn’t like.): , a variety of sushi rolls including one called OMG roll. The Tempura udon was averagely yummy and I found the tea a bit weak. However the Chef was so friendly and gave our table a couple additional items to try out: seared salmon nigiri and yellow tail kimchi salad roll - which really rounded up our dinner experience there very well. I would absolutely come back for their warm smiles, nigiri and sashimi!
For a hot saturday afternoon, we craved for vietnamese so we found ourselves at Rice Paper Vietnamese cuisine. They had a really fun and interesting menu offering different salad rolls! We tried * * *. The pho was decent and the appetizers were yummy. Portions were amazing here and service was good! *Mmm Fried tofu!*
Yum yum yum, another bang for your buck place that we stumped across was this Thai restaurant just down 2 blocks from our Hotel.
Wicked variety, good taste + portions! All the dishes were perfectly sharable between my group of 5! I highly recommend their peanut satay basa fish! :)
Portions. Oh my goodness this places portions are … so much bigger than Canada. This restaurant is situated in a games facility where of $19.95 you could watch a movie, play 1 game of bowling, 1 game of laser tag and an unlimited time at the arcade! After Skydiving taking up most of our day + energy, hitting this place up was absolutely PERFECT! Our waiter was friendly, helpful and really nice. We ordered their **insert food name** , and was so stuffed we had to take pretty much the entire pizza back home. (PS: my girl friend doesn’t recommend their Asparagus, honey, goat cheese pizza, said it tasted a bit off.) #BANGFORYAABUCK
Now... about that SkyDive:
We had a booking with them for 11am, upon arrival and signing our lives away - unfortunately they had to fix up the only plane that was working on site. It took us nearly 6 hours of wait time till we were up in the sky. I really liked the people who worked here, thank goodness to them for making the entire experience just a bit more bearable. (especially since they have a strict no-refunds policy… which I’m really not fond of, considering waiting around was a huge waste of time for the most part.) The JUMP when it finally happened though. . . was very worth it. #TheregoesmySkydivingCherry (; They also offer a little group pricing discount to make it up for the loss time, our group got some free photos/video + t shirts (which, was very nice of them in the end! :). For future reference if you ever plan to skydive here, I would recommend them. Just do give them a call and ask whether their planes work first.
Overall, Phoenix + Friends made for a pretty lovely weekend. <3
