Today is my... twenty-two
Twenty Second Birthday!
" Know your own happiness. " Jane Austen
"When nobody else celebrates you, learn to celebrate yourself. When nobody else compliments you, then compliment yourself. It’s not up to other people to keep you encouraged. It’s up to you. Encouragement should come from the inside."
- Joel Osteen
Yes my birthday is smack right centre of the year between now till Christmas! I've always looked forward to celebrating birthdays! A teacher of mine once told my class, ' for the past 25 years I've never worked on my birthday. It's kind of like my own holiday." and I love that! After all it does only happen once a year! I feel like birthday's gives me an excuse to make hand made gifts, plan surprises and bake to my heart's content to those I love!
I normally celebrate my birthday with a big group of friends and family, I get to dress up, photos with friends and lots of good food. But for this year, it feels just right to be celebrating and spending quality time with friends and family in a more intimate set up, compared to a blown out party. Maybe it's because I've been so busy this year, I've began to value my time with friends and loved ones much more than before. Presence is a precious gift, and this year I'm grateful to still be surrounded by more and more amazing individuals and awesome vibes!
The best gift you could ever give someone is your time,
because you're giving them something that you'll never get back.
This photo set was done over the weekend from my impromptu birthday trip to Vancouver. (thanks to my friend Eric!) The moment I landed, I gathered my things and met up with Thai Troung. I knew Thai from two years ago during an advanced personal development course in BC. I remember us toying with the idea of working together in the past few years, so I figured let's make it happen! And wow was it worth it! We spent 6 hrs shooting between two locations, climbing through 'dangerous' construction signs, being stabbed by thorns (you know, all the fun stuff modelling outdoor includes! ;) and ended our collaboration time with some delicious Thai food from Longtail Kitchen!
About Thai Troung -
Thai is a Vancouver based photographer, who is incredibly good at what he does! His passion and skills really showed through with his attention to detail during our session. (I even got the chance to pick up some tips + tricks on lighting!) The raw images were kickass and he was super fun to work with, (it was quite entertaining watching him jump and climb onto different heights to get 'the shots'). I'm excited to see what else we can create in the future, on earlier mornings next time ;)!

I'm very excited to see how the rest of this year will unfold! Your support and love inspires me in continuing my growth and becoming even better!
