Toronto: WVRST - A Sausage House
Wvrst* Sausage House and Other Wonders
@ 609 King Street W, Downtown Toronto
Okay I love street meat, (yeah I've said it.) I'd pick hot dog/sausage over a burger if given those two options anyday. (Maybe unless it was a shrimp burger from The Rock, in Calgary).. However mind you, Wvrst is absolutely not street meat by any means. It serves an impressive menu of speciality sausages and has one very extensive beer menu. A great beerhall to meet up with friends, have a nice cold glass of beer, and enjoy some meat and dirty duck fries. (Oh my goodness, those fries! For $7.50 that was some amazing portion!)
For BEERS I had a glass of Local 7 while my friend had his humongous Paulaner from the tap. I also took a few sips of my friend's beer called "Konnichiwa Peaches" by Oast House -my favourite beer of the evening! This fruity beer was a delicious and refreshing basket of fuzzy peaches mixed with beer!
For SAUSAGES, I tried the Chorizo (Pork/chilli) with sauerkraut and jalapeños on a toasted bun. And the Bratwvrst in the 'Curry wvrst' style, it comes sliced up in a tomato curry sauce with a piece of toasted country bread. I couldn't pick a favourite between the two because they were both just delicious, juicy, spiced well and had great flavour (Even the bread was oddly good!) And just writing about this, it's making me hungry!
I wish Calgary had this , but I guess these kind of gem's just gives me more of a reason to jet over to the East and continue exploring! My recommendation is definitely give the Curry WVRST sauce a go, I loved loved it!
