Happy Pi Day @Pie Cloud

Happy Pi day everyone! (03.14.16)
As tribute to this day (due to my newsfeed deciding to make everything pi related...) I called up Derek around 2pm & we met for some serious pie time at Pie Cloud: Diner + Bakery in Kensington!
To start, we got a couple savory pies.
They are single serving and comes with a side, starting at $14+
Derek got their Turkey Dinner ($16): Turkey, veggie in gravy on a sage and rosemary stuffing pie crust. Crowned with mashed potatoes + cranberry relish and extra gravy.
While I tried their Boston Chowder Pie (16): Clams, bacon, veggie in a creamy sauce on shreaded potato piecrust. Rounded off with another crust of crispy potato on top.
The Turkey pie was seriously good, every bite reminded me of thanksgiving and was definitely on a heartier side in terms of taste and portion.
MINE ... was fantastic aswell. The crispy potato topping paired amazingly well with my rich, creamy seafood chowder. I really enjoyed it!
NOW ... Dessert time!
PIE TIP when it comes to eating at Pie Cloud:
1) Call to reserve your pie. It was 2pm and more than half their pies were sold out.
2) Order your pie first and do not wait till the end of the meal
3) RESERVE a table (dinner hours gets pretty busy)
Banana Cream Pie (7): Tender pastry, topped with creamy banana custard and fresh banana slices, graced with oodles of fresh whipped cream on top.
I really wasn't craving anything too sweet, so the banana cream pie was pretty perfect for me. Each bite felt like the perfect banana heaven (if that's a thing) moment. It was light, creamy, super duper banana-ee... so much that I felt the need to throw some warm chocolate sauce on top because it began to remind me of a childhood pairing of nutella + banana crepes.
While Derek got himself the Sweet Addiction Pie (8): Based on old-school chess pie, a re-invented butter and brown sugar cream custard rests gently on a oatmeal cookie crust + a la mode.
At the end of the meal, we both entered a satisfying food coma and gave each other a high5* for feeling lucky to have gotten a sweet slice before they were sold out by the time we left.
June 2015 when I first visited and tried out the following sweet pies
Lemon Meringue Pie (8): Tangy lemon curd tops flaky pastry, with a mountain of delicate meringue wafting above.
Pecan Pie (8): Whole pecans soaked in a southern bourbon, butter, brown sugar and molasses mix, resting upon buttery pastry base + a la mode
Overall ... Yes I would absolutely come back! The service was great, my waitress was super mindful and sweet. The decor is warm woods, pillows with touch of tiffany blue all over the place - giving the space a very warm, cozy vibe. Added I am eyeing their specialty brunch menu big time! (I mean ...Tiramisu french toast, red velvet waffle w/ white chocolate and cream cheese ...anyone!?)
