Pineapple Bun Heaven! :D
4231 Hazelbridge Way, #150 Richmond BC V6X3L7
Lido is my favourite HK styled cafe in Richmond! This is my must breakfast place to visit whenever I'm in the city. They have a big menu with many traditional HK favourites with reasonable pricing (Being I'm from Calgary, over priced mediocre HK cuisine is very common) Thus my experience with Lido was absolutely wonderful!
Now despite my absolute love for this place, if you didn't grow up with a HK restaurant like this as a child don't be surprise with the semi old school feel of this place. It's not a fancy restaurant and its' great the way they are! This place bought back some of my fondest childhood memories of the days when my mum would take me to places like ABC in Calgary for HK styled breakfast before Chinese School!
Some of my favourites from Lido is their fresh out of the oven Pineapple buns! I always order the pineapple bun with a thick slice of butter, it's a bit deadly however it taste absolutely heavenly! (A nice motivation to work out more right?)
Next must order for me is their almond tea, I love that it's not made from powder like most places (taking the easy way around and all...) the way they make it here is from scratch and it comes in a warm little bowl!
And a few others things that I tend to get regularly is their thousand year egg or fish congee, flat rice noodle soups with beef brisket and their HK milk tea! Rich, flavourful and smooth ( much smoother than the ones I've had in Calgary.) and it comes unsweetened so you can make it as sweet or not...as you like!
Heads up service is the typical Chinese restaurant experience, this place is often super busy and packed full of people, so I'd suggest go when you're not in a super rush. And bring cash, this restaurant like many others in Richmond is 'Cash Only'!
Thanks for checking out this photo review of one of my favourite places to go in Richmond! If you have somewhere you'd recommend next time I'm there, please let me know below! :)
