Japanese x Italian fusion cuisine
After attending the Latte Art Love Pop Up Cafe Event, Team ESP and a few of my friends decided to go out for dinner. First choice was Diner Deluxe, however because they were closed by the time we got to the area, Carino Bistro was the next option!
And thank goodness it was! it was many of our first time being there and I must say whoever thought it was a good idea to mix Japanese and Italian cuisine together is a pretty awesome person! (Yes I really enjoyed the dishes here!)
Shelley ordered the "Duck! Duck!! Duck!!!" 3 ways of delicious duck done right: Foie Gras Gnocchi, Confit leg, & Carpaccio. I loved the presentation of this dish too!
For my friend & I, we opt for the Lobster Pasta and gnocchi + pork belly. I'm a sucker for seafood, gnocchi and pork belly.. or well a lot of other things, however these two items stood out to me on the menu. The pasta was quite delicious, it gets a thumbs up from me! But I loved the gnocchi + pork belly maybe just a bit more. I could have ordered that dish + a salad and be satisfied. The flavours were rich, the pork was almost a melt-in-my-mouth yum and it had melting pieces of rich parmesan on top.
The last two dishes ordered was:
Teriyaki Wagyu Beef Burger
My friend didn't really enjoy his burger, he felt as though it was too oily for his taste. Though I've personally always loved creative replacements of bread. Each to their own!
Ume-Shiso Chicken Tsukune was the last dish ordered. If you like fish or crab cakes, this dish is for you! I was so thrown off thinking it was fish cakes!
And for dessert to end the meal right, we shared the matcha green tea creme brulee!
I really liked the look and feel of this little bistro, the outside didn't give a 'fancy' feel however once you step in, it was a whole different mood! The interior was chic, there were black chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, mirrors and artwork all around. It's a great place for an intimate gathering with friends or a date. Price was definitely leaning more to the slightly expensive $$$ side, however for a once in a while splurge on trying something new, this would be a pretty good place. Service was also very good, our waitress was very attentive to our table of 6!
