Diner en Blanc - Calgary 2015
What better way to spend a beautiful warm Thursday evening other than having a picnic with friends in a secret location, live music (with the angelic Justine Tyrell), good food while everyone is enjoying a lovely time?

Welcome to my photo diary of my first experience at Calgary's 3rd annual Diner en Blanc. A tradition which began in Paris, France in 1988 by Francois Pasquier when he first asked some of his friends out for a picnic, all dressed in white.

Last year DEB attracted 2,500 + individuals to attend this beautiful picnic and this year was no exception when it came down to all the love , excitement and eagerness to be part of this event again; or while for some others, (such as myself).. for the very first time!
A sea of white diner's all headed to the secret location from Eau Claire Market
My car always has a handy trolly just incase picnic's like these happen! (Just kidding, my dad left it in the car for work & thank goodness he did!) What I've learned for the next year is: Bring bungie cords! They help secure carrying item(s) if they are this huge!!
*ps: Thank you @_eudamoniaseeker for lending us her picnic basket!*
A shout out to Emily Barnett for being a wonderful and thoughtful table lead. With her streamlining rentals for this event for majority of her group, it made walking to the secret location so much easier along with set up/take down! <3
Tradition: Waving of white napkins prior to beginning of meal
Come join me! I'll be in white (;
Secret Location this year: Peace Bridge at Eau Claire
Tradition: Bringing your own tableware/setup + flare.
How you wish to style your table is completely up to you!
(Next year watch out! I promise it'll be even better! With being between finals and having spent only 2 hours to conjure up the set up the night before+ what food to bring, I think I did alright!)
Food: Derek & I purchased 1 dinner to share and opt to bring in our own food + drinks! Many others also bought in home made goodies, I saw sushi, a mini bbq and crockpots all around!
(I felt quite inspired for DEB2016, the different food ideas just flooded me throughout dinner!)
*Meals were prepared at The Nash in Inglewood by Michael Noble.*
As an add on to our meals I decided to put together my own Charcuterie Board consisting of: Spicy Havarti, Brie, 3 types of meats, walnut/cranberries and almonds! Next year I'd love to bring a board of Ollia savoury + sweet macarons for this occasion! <3
A bottle of Lorina Pink Lemonade + raspberries,
was our drink of choice for the evening.
My foodie +1 for DEB , Derek!
White Dress + White Jeans from Guess
Short sleeve button up dress shirt from Express
Fresh flower centre pieces were seen among majority of the tables and they were absolutely stunning! However also kudos to the table with a hung disco ball, LED eggs and white Christmas lights!
Thank you for the bottles of Badoit - France Sparkling Water + Evian Water for keeping everyone well hydrated!
Tradition: Sparklers are on when the sun goes down
Thank you for the magnificent first year experience of Diner En Blanc Calgary! I look forward to ones in other cities and the one next year in Calgary! The entire evening was so magical, elegant, beautiful and incredibly fun! Thank you for the inspiration!
